Adobe® Reader® installation instructions - STEP 1
Important: You must be connected to the Internet to download and install this software. We recommend you print this page for easy reference during the installation process.
- Download Adobe Reader software here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
- Choose a language.
- Select your operating system.
- Select your connection speed
- If given an option, select to download the full version of Adobe Reader.
- Click the red download button at the bottom.
- When the file download button appears, choose "Save or "Save this program to disk" if it is not already selected. Click "ok," then save it to your hard drive. A good place to save it is on your desktop; that way it will be easy to find.
- Once the download is complete, find the file on your hard drive or desktop then double-click the file to begin the installation process.
- Once the installation is complete, an Adobe Reader shortcut will appear on your desktop. Double-click this shortcut to start the Adobe Reader software.
The first time you start the Adobe Reader software you will be prompted to "Accept" the End-User License Agreement. Click "Accept" to continue using the software.
Activating Adobe Reader - STEP 2
- In the Adobe Reader software, from the drop-down menus at the top of your screen, click on "Tools," then "eBook Web Services," then "Adobe DRM Activator."
- A Web page will open asking you to sign in using your Microsoft .Net Passport. If you already have one, click on the sign-in button. If you do not, click on the sign-up link. Note: If you have an MSN hotmail or MSN.com e-mail account, you already have a .net passport.
- Once you login, you will be prompted to "Create an activation profile." Simply type in your first and last name, your e-mail address should already be filled in. Click "Create profile."
- The next screen will give you the option to "Activate Adobe Reader;" click the "Activate" button.
- You may or may not get a "security alert" box. Just click "Yes" to continue.
- The software will begin downloading documents and when it is done, you will see a confirmation window, which states "Your Adobe software has been activated." Click "ok."
- The "Activate Adobe Reader" screen will be updated and you should see your computer listed in the "Activations" list.

Important notes: You must have administrative privileges to install Adobe Reader on Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows NT.
If you have trouble with Adobe Reader, you can repair your installation in one of two ways:
- If you can launch Adobe Reader. Select Detect and Repair from the Adobe Reader 6 Help menu.
- If you cannot launch Adobe Reader successfully, you can also repair your installation from the Control Panel. From the Start menu select Settings, Control Panel , then Add/Remove Programs. From the dialog that comes up, select Adobe Reader 6 and then press the Change button to repair your installation.
